STRATEGIC

ADVISORY

My greatest strength as a consultant is to be ignorant and ask a few questions.
— Peter Drucker

To achieve results, the business metrics of an organization must be clear, both people-based and numbers-based.

We spend time understanding the needs and specific elements that drive leadership success in organizations, followed by identifying clear business metrics and the corresponding leadership competencies that need to be developed to drive results. This allows us to co-develop program objectives and clear definitions of success at each level of the program.

After identifying the most urgent needs, we guide and assist organizations with leadership, employee, and organizational development programs, executive services, and community-building programs.

OUR

APPROACH

We approach our advisory services with a coaching ethos. Walking alongside our clients as strategic partners, we employ our professional curiosity, openness, and transparency to learn about them, their challenges and objectives, their organization and its culture, their personnel, and the industry and market forces affecting their business to provide meaningful and impactful recommendations.

We come to advisory services not merely as consultants with significant experience in a multitude of fields and disciplines but also as coaches who delve deeper to ask critical questions. We interview stakeholders and external sources to gather formal and informal data, looking at the present state of the organization, personnel, capability-building efforts, knowledge networks, competitors, and industry trends as part of the initial organizational assessment. This process helps the client better see and understand their internal processes, strengths, weaknesses, threats, and opportunities so they can formulate realistic strategic plans and goals to get to a brighter tomorrow.

  • For strategic plan development, we employ the balanced scorecard approach. This assists leaders in focusing on critical objectives and areas that will help drive performance. As partners, we co-develop the specific goals, measures, and initiatives needed to deploy the plan and track progress. Finally, we use scenario planning to test the strategic plan and its efficacy. As partners, Grace & Steel Associates also work with employees throughout the organization to assist with plan adoption, be it helping co-constructing success roadmaps or accountability measures, driving performance, and employee engagement initiatives. We do this because we believe partners should take the journey with you.

We don’t shy away from difficult conversations; we embrace them. We interview stakeholders and external sources to gather both formal and informal data; we look at the present state of the organization, personnel, capability-building efforts, knowledge networks, competitors, and industry trends as part of the initial organizational assessment. This process helps the client better see and understand any or all of their potential blind spots and focus on areas such as internal processes, strengths, weaknesses, threats, and opportunities.

We believe there is power in knowledge. The more knowledge we have, the more able we are to formulate realistic strategic plans and goals to get us to our ultimate goal: building a brighter tomorrow.

OUR

PROCESS

Transformation, one step at a time. For many people, transformation is exhilarating, but for others, it elicits fear of change, blame, loss, and the unknown. Grace & Steel applies the strategy of chunking to stealthy transformation. We offer consulting services for clients intent on building growth and learning cultures while fostering employee wellbeing, diversity, equity, and inclusion.

We begin with an organizational scan to gather information through conversations, surveys, and assessments with the leadership team, key stakeholders, employee influencers, and connectors. Areas such as leadership, formal and informal organizational culture, leveraging employee diversity for innovation and breakthroughs, intentionally creating a workplace of inclusion and belonging, understanding and harnessing generational styles, strengths, and conflicts, and wellbeing initiatives are discussed to get to the root of the challenge.

We employ a laser-like focus to uncover broad, practical, and rich information so we can create and steward equally meaningful, helpful, and valuable solutions to move the needle. Dependent on our findings, including possible roadblocks and organizational cultural forces at work, Grace & Steel practitioners come together to design a detailed strategic plan addressing the organization’s current reality and steps needed to be taken to achieve their goals and aspirations. We inquire, uncover, discover, brainstorm, create, deliver, explain, and execute the plan hand in hand with our clients, so they and their employees at all levels understand and feel supported throughout the engagement. After all, we too, have some skin in the game!
