Hi, I’m Tony Cortese.
If we were sitting down for a cup of coffee, you’d discover that I’m a down to earth, curious, pragmatic, “what you see – is what you get” type of individual. My experience, education, and credentials are outlined below for your review, but hopefully, what would stand out during our conversation is the lack of pretense, my candor, and that I’m here to help you with your challenges.
I bring 35 years of experience in Leadership, Human Resources, Consulting, Mentoring, and Coaching in various organizations and at levels ranging from entry-level to the C-Suite. My coaching and consulting clients have included senior executives, new and emerging leaders, individual contributors, and teams that have worked for corporations, start-ups, utilities, non-profits, and government agencies.
I recently retired as a Senior Vice President from Herman Miller, where I provided strategic leadership for their global Human Resources Team. Much of my focus during my 22 years at Herman Miller was on organizational transformation and coaching/developing business-oriented human-centric Leaders.
Before joining Herman Miller, I spent more than a decade as a hands-on plant floor Human Resources Manager with Church & Dwight Co., Inc. (You know them as the “Arm & Hammer” people). I started my professional career with Ralston Purina.
My initial foray into HR was as an intern at a steel mill. Before that, I held a number of character- building jobs working as a janitor, dishwasher, groundskeeper, retail clerk, hapless garage hand, and starving musician. I wouldn’t trade those experiences for anything. Each of them contributed to who I am today…
In addition to my experience, I have a Master’s Degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology, a Bachelor’s Degree from State University of New York College at Fredonia, and various leadership certifications from Thunderbird, the University of Michigan, Georgetown University, and MIT.
